Position Title: Scrum Master
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Story Behind the Need
Business group: CBE Canadian Banking Engineering RBBO (Retail business banking operations) Engineering – scope of the team is to work on implementations of applications of technology from inception to execution and overseeing the requirements, timelines, capacity, risks and scope – delivering on automation streamlining of business processes to improve operations
Project: Retail E2E Servicing Program is a large initiative focused on streamlining Retail Ops processes as well as remediating software currency risk. The program is composed of several scrum teams, and a Scrum Master is required to lead 2 of the teams (3 devs + 3 QAs, 1 shared BA or 1 BA each – so 7-8 people on each team) to deliver on the backlog of requirements to drive the required Business benefits. Currently in the middle stages, in development and testing; 1 pod has just started; majority is in dev and testing cycle and working towards implementation phase.
Candidate Value Proposition:
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a P1 initiative (high visibility) introducing automation, leveraging Microsoft Power Platform as a new platform for the business line, implementing native AI capabilities to improve operations, working with a multi-disciplinary team and a variety of teams from platforms to security to architects, and business stakeholders, for a top 5 Canadian Bank.
Typical Day in Role:
- Working in an agile environment, leading daily standups, conducting sprint planning, backlog grooming sessions, agile ceremonies; establishing good relationships and trust with the teams, coaching team members, calling out risks, impediments, blockers, flagging those items; engaging necessary people to resolve impediments
- Ensuring that the solution put forth meets the criteria of the platform, reviewing the AI capabilities and working with SMEs and dev leads for AI capabilities
- Ensure the team enacts the agile principles, values, and framework.
- Coach the development team and help lead and ensure the agile mindset is fully adopted and understood.
- Engage with the team and technical SMEs to identify technical risks and develop approaches to remediate.
- Facilitate agile ceremonies including iteration planning, iteration review, retrospectives, and daily standups.
- Create a forum for discussing vision, goals, and Product Backlog items amongst the team.
- Identify, manage, and help mitigate issues and risks, with particular emphasis on the timely removal of impediments for the team and/or directing obstacles to appropriate owners for quick resolution.
- Facilitate identifying and enacting improvement strategies to increase the productivity of the team and quality of deliverables.
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
- 7+ years’ experience as a Scrum Master
- 7+ years’ experience with PM tools: JIRA, Confluence
- Experience working with multi-workstream, complex projects
- CSM certification
- Experience working in an Agile environment
Nice-To-Have Skills:
- Experience from FI/Banking
- Experience with cloud technology implementations
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform implementations
- Agile coaching experience
- Reporting experience (Agile team KPIs, metrics)
Soft Skills Required:

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree
- CSM /Agile certifications

Scrum Master needs to be a people person, who is approachable and trustworthy and creates a positive environment; balanced with being a go-getter and results and action and detail oriented; has Agile reporting experience; Microsoft Power Platform implementation experience will set them apart
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$89.00 and CA$99.00
