Job Title: Senior Atlassian Cloud Engineer Location: Agora Hills, CA (Onsite)
Estimated Duration: 12 Months
Location: Remote (United States)
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Atlassian Cloud Engineer to take ownership of a critical Atlassian ecosystem and help scale one of the most important platforms within a growing technology organization.
This is a unique opportunity to become the first dedicated Atlassian subject matter expert within the company. You will own the administration, governance, security, optimization, and long-term strategy of Jira, Jira Service Management, and Confluence while partnering closely with engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
The ideal candidate is more than a Jira administrator. We're looking for someone who has successfully owned an Atlassian environment end-to-end, proactively improves processes, and can operate independently with minimal oversight.
What You'll Do

Serve as the primary owner and subject matter expert for Atlassian Cloud products, including Jira, Jira Service Management, and Confluence
-
Design, implement, and maintain workflows, permission schemes, automations, SLAs, request types, and service management processes
-
Administer and optimize Jira Service Management in alignment with ITIL best practices
-
Configure and support Atlassian Guard, including SSO, SCIM provisioning, and security policies
-
Build advanced dashboards, reports, and analytics using JQL and native reporting capabilities
-
Establish governance standards, documentation, and platform best practices
-
Partner with technical and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver scalable solutions
-
Troubleshoot complex platform issues and perform root-cause analysis
-
Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance platform performance, user experience, and operational efficiency
-
Collaborate with internal stakeholders on platform support, roadmap planning, and strategic initiatives
Required Qualifications
-
3+ years of hands-on Atlassian Cloud administration experience
-
Deep expertise with Jira and Jira Service Management
-
Strong experience designing workflows, permission models, automations, request types, and service management processes
-
Experience administering Confluence, including governance and documentation standards
-
Experience with Atlassian Guard, SSO, SCIM provisioning, and enterprise security practices
-
Advanced JQL skills and reporting/dashboard creation experience
-
Proven track record of independently owning and administering an Atlassian environment
-
Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
-
Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
-
Ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative environment
Preferred Qualifications
-
Atlassian certifications (ACP, ACE, or equivalent)
-
Experience with ScriptRunner and Groovy scripting
-
Experience with Jira Product Discovery
-
Experience with Bitbucket
-
Background supporting enterprise-scale Atlassian environments
What Makes This Opportunity Different
-
Fully remote role within the United States
-
Opportunity to become the first dedicated Atlassian SME within the organization
-
High visibility with engineering leadership and key business stakeholders
-
End-to-end ownership of a critical platform rather than ticket-based administration
-
Ability to define governance, standards, and long-term strategy
-
Contract-to-hire pathway with long-term growth potential
