What You'll Do

  • Establish and implement data governance and data management standards, policies, procedures and controls which include adhering to privacy, compliance and legal requirements for sensitive data 
  • Continuously assess the current state of our data environment to identify process improvement opportunities such as inefficient table structures, ineffective load processes, R.O.T. or metadata and reference data enhancements 
  • Proactively monitor data, metadata and reference data and lead continuous data quality improvements while supporting the data stewardship community in resolving identified data quality and data integrity concerns 
  • Create and maintain data models and conceptual architecture as well as metadata and documentation such as data glossaries and catalogs, data mappings, data lineage and data classifications 
  • Lead data integration efforts and enable collaboration between I.T., business data ownersstewards and SMEs while conducting data profiling and data discovery to support these efforts  
  • Lead data object designs and ensure best practices are followed and supporting documentation can be maintained 
  • Experiment with emerging technologies to understand how they may impact what comes next and provide thought leadership in areas of advanced data techniques 
  • Maintain open communication between all data stakeholders, from producers to consumers, and remain an active enabler of effective data management and the overall data governance structure of the Bank 

What you bring

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science or related program 
  • Proven experience in the delivery of data solutions 
  • Advanced PLSQL combined with 5+ years experience with Oracle or comparable structured data environment 
  • Working experience in modern data warehousing techniques and cloud technology platform solutions such as Azure or GCP 
  • Experience with processes supporting data transformation and clear understanding of data ingestion protocols and ETL  
  • Exposure to the following tools or technology:  Hadoop, Hive, Python, R, Shell Scripting, SAS, basic Linux commands, Databricks 
  • Proven work experience with data in a corporate environment and supporting cross-functional data governance including monitoring data quality, recommending improvements in data, data modeling, data classification and data governance capabilities 
  • Analytical mindset for metadata and data investigation and troubleshooting 
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft tools including Visio, PowerPoint and Excel 
  • Good understanding of emerging technologies, JSON and modern integration frameworks and API development considered an asset 
  • Working experience with Google Big Query and Digital Data, such as clickstream, considered a strong asset 
  • Experience with data governance or curation platforms considered an asset 
  • CDMP certification considered a strong asset
