Senior Business Systems Analyst
We are looking for a Senior Business Systems Analyst to support an MDM system upgrade project involving product and merchandising data. This is a highly data-centric role focused on requirements gathering, data analysis, source-to-target mapping, reporting validation, and supporting the transition of existing reports and workflows into a new system environment. The BSA will work closely with business, technology, data, and merchandising stakeholders to understand current-state processes, challenge business value where needed, and translate requirements into clear functional specifications that support delivery. The successful candidate must be comfortable asking thoughtful questions, probing stakeholders, identifying risks and gaps, and bringing recommendations forward. They should be delivery-oriented, analytical, and able to balance business needs with practical execution.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements for an MDM system upgrade project.
  • Support data analysis activities, including data mapping, source-to-target mapping, data validation, and data cleansing considerations.
  • Work with business and technology stakeholders to understand current-state reporting, product data workflows, and system dependencies.
  • Validate which reports are actively being used and assess the business value, accuracy, and relevance of existing reports.
  • Reverse engineer existing reports and support their transition into the new system environment.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to define, validate, and prioritize requirements in alignment with project timelines.
  • Translate business needs into clear BRDs, FRDs, user stories, process flows, data mapping documents, and other delivery artifacts.
  • Support product onboarding and merchandising workflows, ensuring requirements reflect how product data is created, maintained, governed, and reported.
  • Use Excel, SQL, and reporting tools to investigate data, identify trends, validate assumptions, and support decision-making.
  • Work within Agile/Scrum delivery practices, using tools such as Jira and Confluence to manage requirements, documentation, and delivery progress.
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings with a strategic approach, bringing forward value-add options, risks, recommendations, and rationale.
  • Support end-to-end delivery by ensuring requirements are clear, validated, traceable, and delivered on time.

Requirements

  • Strong experience as a Business Systems Analyst in data-centric project environments.
  • Proven experience with data mapping, source-to-target mapping, data structures, and data cleansing concepts.
  • Experience supporting MDM upgrade projects, ideally with a focus on data, governance, and product information.
  • Experience with STIBO STEP, Syndigo, or similar MDM/PIM platforms is an asset.
  • Merchandising or product data experience is highly preferred. Understanding of product onboarding workflows is an asset.
  • Strong data analysis skills using Excel and SQL.
  • Experience with data visualization and reporting tools; Power BI is highly preferred, Tableau is acceptable.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Jira and Confluence.
  • Enterprise experience is required; retail experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong ability to work with both business and technology stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to document BRDs, FRDs, user stories, workflows, data mapping documentation, and functional specifications.
  • Delivery-oriented mindset.
  • Strong communication skills and excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
