Overview
Our Client’s Generation Engineering team is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support a growing portfolio of capital projects, new generation facilities, and plant modernization initiatives across Saskatchewan. The successful candidate will work within a collaborative pod-based engineering team responsible for delivering electrical and controls engineering solutions for hydro, natural gas, and coal generation assets.
This role requires a strong technical background in industrial electrical engineering combined with project management and stakeholder engagement experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Electrical and Control System design functions for generation facility projects.
- Lead and support capital projects from initiation through commissioning.
- Manage project-related activities including:
- Budgeting
- Forecasting
- Scheduling
- Reporting
- Contract management
- Develop business cases, evaluate alternatives, and provide recommendations on preferred courses of action.
- Develop engineering standards, processes, and methodologies to support departmental goals.
- Prepare technical specifications and support procurement activities, including evaluation and negotiation processes.
- Support site construction, commissioning, and startup activities at generation facilities across Saskatchewan.
- Conduct site assessments, inspections, and field investigations as required.
- Provide technical direction and guidance to technologists, consultants, contractors, and external technical resources.
- Review and approve engineering deliverables and sign/seal design drawings in accordance with APEGS requirements.
- Support projects involving:
- Medium-voltage and low-voltage systems
- Switchgear
- Motor Control Centres (MCCs)
- Industrial power distribution systems
- PLCs and control systems
- Electrical equipment upgrades and modernization initiatives
- Collaborate within a team-oriented pod structure while providing leadership on assigned initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation registered and in good standing with APEGS.
- Minimum 10 years of industrial electrical engineering experience.
- Strong experience with:
- Medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems
- Switchgear
- Motor Control Centres (MCCs)
- Industrial electrical distribution systems
- PLC and control systems
- Experience within industrial environments such as:
- Power Generation
- Manufacturing
- Oil & Gas
- Mining
- Heavy Industrial Facilities
- Demonstrated project management experience including budgeting, scheduling, forecasting, reporting, and contract administration.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Demonstrated record of continuous professional development.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to foster a culture focused on safety, innovation, accountability, and teamwork.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$125.00 and CA$160.00
