Job Title: Senior Estimator

Location: Winnipeg, MB (Hybrid)

Estimated Duration: Fulltime

Role Overview
You're a Senior Estimating Manager with 10+ years of experience leading preconstruction efforts for commercial and light industrial projects, including proven experience managing and developing estimating teams. In this role, you will oversee the estimating function, provide strategic direction on bids, and ensure the delivery of accurate, competitive estimates aligned with business objectives.

You will lead and grow a high-performing estimating team, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management, while driving consistency, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the department. As a key contributor to project success, you’ll guide bid strategy across hard bid, cost-plus, and design-build projects, leveraging your expertise and advanced estimating tools (OST) to support informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the estimating department, including hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management of team members

  • Lead subcontractor and supplier solicitation efforts, review and analyze quotes, and provide data to support subcontractor selection for large and complex bids

  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs for all estimate areas, ensuring clear documentation for project team handover, including safety and security requirements per client policies and applicable legislation

  • Analyze plans, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive bid estimates, including site visits, quantity take-offs, pricing, and preparing a presentation for management to review

  • Integrate drawing specifications, terms, and conditions into bids and review RFIs prior to submission

  • Develop project schedules and execution schedules based on estimates, incorporating input from project teams and relevant trades

  • Support the presentation of estimate proposals to stakeholders

  • Prepare conceptual estimates using historical data and insights

  • Participate in major trade pre-award meetings as required

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive estimating experience within ICI construction, including demonstrated experience managing or leading an estimating team; on-site project management experience is an asset

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Estimating, Engineering, or a related field

  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office, Onscreen Take Off (OST), and related estimating software; familiarity with BIM modeling is an asset

  • Strong understanding of trade-related drawings, specifications, and construction documents, with the ability to assess completeness and provide direction

  • Knowledge of construction costs, budgeting, and project schedule development

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and provide coaching and mentorship

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$150.00 and CA$125,000
