Position Title – Intermediate to Senior Systems Engineering Operations Support
Expected 8-month contract

Description
Our client is looking for a self-driven intermediate to senior software engineer to work on a variety of software systems supporting our production environment. As a software engineer consultant, you will be supporting, updating, and developing on a variety of applications to support the shop floor.
As successful applicant, you will be expected to visit the production floor as part of regular duties such as troubleshooting, deployments and training. Additionally, you will be expected to participate in system engineering support for production during our fixed support rotations including some Windows server administration and troubleshooting tasks.
The applicant would be focused on the configuration, maintenance and support of a mission critical applications, built on both Linux and Windows platforms. Resource must have excellent analytical skills with a knack to troubleshoot applications and databases. Resource must be comfortable working in manufacturing environment, with significant impact from failures or delayed recovery from failure. Role will involve work in both Cambridge and Woodstock sites. Role will involve carrying a company issued phone and laptop, to provide remote support as necessary. There is an opportunity to become involved in many other manufacturing systems.
As successful applicant, you will be expected to visit the production floor as part of understanding the environment and processes that the application will be used in. Additionally, you will be expected to participate as part of our core SCRUM team, helping to groom and refine stories.

Required Technical Profile:
5+ years, intermediate to senior level experience in several of the following
- Experience with OT systems: i.e., Kepware, Aveva, PLC integration
- Experience with .Net development in C# support experience
- Demonstrated Scripting and coding skill
- Well versed with troubleshooting and web development
- Relational Database in Oracle, Postgres and/or SQL Server
Required Professional Skills
- Demonstrated problem solving, troubleshooting and debugging skills
- Self-starter with excellent communication skills.
- Passionate about learning new systems and eager to identify opportunities for improvement
- Must work well both autonomously and in a team environment
- Ability to balance concurrent assignments and negotiate with customer groups to follow tasks through to conclusion
- Ability to write well organized user requirements and technical design documentation
- Ability to follow requirements and deliver new product features from start to finish
- Strong interpersonal skills, decision making ability, and problem-solving skills
- Ability and willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies as business needs evolves
- Perform under pressure
- Available to work overtime when required
Nice to Have Technical Skills
- Manufacturing Systems support experience is preferred.
- ITIL Experience/Support Experience
- Experience with Redhat Linux, RPM, shell scripting and commands
- Experience Interfacing with PLC or other embedded systems (i.e. Kepware / Rockwell FactoryTalk, etc.)
- Operational Technology (OT) Experience
- Industrial Protocols (OPC, PLC, Modbus, RFID)
- Azure DevOps experience an asset
- Software build, deployment, and maintenance using build tools, IIS, and Windows Servers
- Git or other related distributed version control software
- Power BI
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$60.00 and CA$75.00
