Position Title: Senior Manager, Engineering

About the Role
We are currently seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Engineering Manager to provide strategic and technical leadership across multiple complex design projects. This role is ideal for a candidate with a proven background in engineering leadership, especially in regulated and safety-critical industries such as nuclear, energy, or infrastructure. The successful candidate will guide the engineering team from project conception through to operational turnover, ensuring deliverables are on time, on budget, and meet all regulatory and technical standards.
Key Responsibilities

Act as the engineering authority on assigned projects, ensuring design outputs and change activities meet regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal procedures.

Lead the development of technical scopes, budgets, schedules, and resource plans for internal and externally contracted design work.

Manage multidisciplinary engineering projects, ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals and strategic direction.

Develop oversight plans and project tracking tools to monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigations.

Supervise internal and external design teams to ensure technically sound and compliant outputs.

Conduct regular progress reviews and provide status updates to senior leadership and key stakeholders.

Serve as a technical mentor and coach to team members, fostering a culture of performance, innovation, and accountability.

Maintain high standards of configuration control and documentation integrity throughout the design lifecycle.

Establish and refine internal processes, templates, and tools to promote engineering best practices and continuous improvement.

Evaluate and select external vendors; contribute to feasibility assessments and vendor performance reviews.

Ensure seamless collaboration between engineering, project management, and operational departments.

Lead the resolution of complex technical challenges and design-related issues.

Uphold and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring adherence to all relevant procedures and standards.

Other responsibilities as required.
Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science from a recognized institution.

At least 8 years of leadership experience in an engineering setting, preferably in energy, utilities, or another safety-critical industry.

Minimum 5 years managing projects within a matrixed or cross-functional environment.

Demonstrated experience overseeing engineering design change processes, particularly within regulated industries.

Must be licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in at least one Canadian province.

Strong ability to lead technical teams and manage both internal staff and third-party service providers.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience preparing technical reports, project briefs, and presentations for executive stakeholders.

A track record of implementing project and engineering governance frameworks.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$140,000 and CA$165,000
