Job Title: Senior Software Developer – Mainframe
Location: Winnipeg, Regina, London, Toronto (Hybrid)
Estimated Duration: 12 Months
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and test software to specifications.
- Support production (includes 24×7 on-call support).
- Provide consultation with the Systems Architect and Business Systems Analyst.
- Participate in project planning and assessments.
- Deliver code reviews and provide feedback relative to best practices.
- Provide Leadership
- Coach and mentor staff.
Qualifications:
- A degree in computer science or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with a minimum of 8+ years of experience in a software developer role.
- Experience as a software developer in a mainframe environment is a must.
- Two or more of the following application development environment languages and tools: PL/1, JCL, CICS, SQL, DB2, CA7, IMSDC/DB. Exposure to ChangeMan and file transfer tools would also be an asset.
- IT experience and the ability to understand and effectively work with legacy technologies and contribute as legacy applications evolve and are either decommitted are migrated to new platforms.
- Experience in analysis, design, development, testing, documentation, implementation and 24/7 production support would be an asset.
- Proven leadership and communication skills with a commitment to customer service.
- Knowledge of Insurance is an asset.
- Demonstrate initiative with the ability to easily adapt to change.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills combined with a quality focus and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work both individually and as part of a team, plan and organize your own work, communicate effectively in writing and verbally in person or remotely
- Excellent understanding of software design, methodologies and documentation standards.
- Knowledge of IT industry current trends
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$80.00 and CA$99.70
