Senior ServiceNow Architect
Our client is seeking an experienced ServiceNow Architect to provide enterprise architecture leadership, governance oversight, and platform strategy for the our client’s ServiceNow program.
The Architect will define and maintain end-to-end ServiceNow architecture across ITSM, ITOM, and ITAM, ensuring alignment with client-wide technology standards and guiding a roadmap that aligns with our scale, and modernization goals. The role will also support the evolution of mobile-enabled service delivery and the responsible adoption of AI-assisted capabilities (e.g., virtual agents, copilots, and workflow intelligence) to improve employee experience, operational efficiency, and decision support.
This role partners closely with Portfolio Management, Product Owners, Enterprise Architecture, Security, divisional IT teams, and delivery partners to ensure ServiceNow solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, and designed to reduce technical debt while enabling consistent service delivery across the City
• Act as design authority for the ServiceNow platform, owning target architecture, reference models, and design standards across ITSM, ITOM (Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management), ITAM (SAM/HAM), CMDB/CSDM, App Engine, and IntegrationHub.
• Lead solution architecture for City-wide initiatives including:
o Incident, Problem, Change, and Request Management
o Service Catalog and workflow standardization
o CMDB strategy and CSDM alignment
o Event, alert, and monitoring integrations
• Review and govern demand intake and architecture touchpoints, ensuring early architectural engagement and alignment with EARB and City governance processes.
• Identify and assess automation candidates across business processes to maximize efficiency, reduce manual effort, and drive continuous improvement.
• Define architecture and design standards for ServiceNow Mobile App usage, including secure access, role-based experiences, offline considerations, and alignment with City mobile and security standards.
• Provide architectural guidance for AI-enabled and Copilot-style integrations, including Virtual Agent, and integrations with Microsoft Copilot and M365 where appropriate.
• Define and govern integration patterns (REST/SOAP APIs, MID Server, IntegrationHub spokes, event ingestion, message queues), ensuring compliance with City security, identity, and data standards.
• Establish and enforce secure-by-design and privacy-by-design principles across all ServiceNow solutions.
• Set development and configuration guardrails, including:
o Configuration-first and OOTB-aligned design
o Scoped applications and update set strategy
o Automated testing (ATF), CI/CD, and code quality practices
• Architect reliable and supportable operations, including:
o High availability and disaster recovery considerations
o Performance baselining and monitoring
o Incident response and operational readiness patterns
• Provide architectural oversight to vendors and system integrators, ensuring adherence to City standards and minimizing customization and rework.
• Maintain architectural artifacts, decision records, and a technical debt backlog to support auditability and long-term platform health.
• Contribute to ServiceNow roadmap planning, release readiness, and evaluation of new platform capabilities.
• Support audits and regulatory reviews by providing architecture documentation, controls, and evidence of governance and SDLC compliance.
Qualifications
• Minimum 3+ years architecting or leading complex ServiceNow implementations across multiple modules (ITSM, ITOM, ITAM).
• Deep expertise in CMDB, CSDM, Discovery, Service Mapping, and enterprise data governance.
• Strong integration experience including REST/SOAP APIs, IntegrationHub, MID Server, event ingestion from monitoring tools, and identity integrations (SSO/SAML/OAuth).
• Proficiency in ServiceNow development and configuration practices including JavaScript, Glide APIs, Flow Designer, ATF, update sets, source control, CI/CD, and performance optimization.
• Demonstrated experience working in large, complex, or public-sector environments with formal governance and audit requirements.
• Strong stakeholder communication skills with the ability to translate City business objectives into scalable technical solutions.
• ServiceNow certifications preferred: CSA, CAD, CIS-ITSM, CIS-ITOM; CTA or architect-level recognition considered an asset.
• Experience designing or integrating ServiceNow Mobile App, Virtual Agent, AI-assisted workflows, or Copilot-style integrations within enterprise or public-sector environments considered an asset
The Architect will be responsible for delivering:
· Approved ServiceNow solution architecture designs and diagrams
· Architecture standards, patterns, and reference models
· Integration designs and data flow documentation
· Architecture review outcomes and decision records
· Mobile architecture patterns and recommended ServiceNow Mobile App use cases
· AI / Copilot integration architecture, guardrails, and decision recommendations
· Platform roadmap input and technical debt reduction recommendations
Audit-ready documentation supporting governance, security, and SDLC compliance
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$110.00 and CA$120.00
