Position Title: Software Developer
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Story Behind the Need
Business group: Client Engineering – Microservices – team is responsible to work on microservices for mobile and web digital banking applications
Project: Instant Banking Access – provide instant banking digital access to customers, it is related to product onboarding (how new and existing customers can onboard products digitally)

Typical Day in Role:
Quickly analyze the available data and find the root cause of the problem during production
issues.
Suggest improvements to supported applications and systems as needed
Suggest improvements to supported applications and systems as needed
Translate ideas into technical and business realities, and to map technology to business
problems.
Understanding of software quality assurance principles

Tech stack: Java 17, Springboot

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
10+ years of experience in software development and supporting complex large-scale customer facing platforms
6+ years’ experience as a Java developer with a preference for Java 17/Spring
6+ years of experience in building public and internal REST APIs in line with Spring methodologies and hands-on experience with 3+ of those years working with Spring Boot microservice architecture
3+ years’ hands-on combined experience with APM tools, such as Dynatrace, Splunk, etc. – 2 recent projects
3+ years’ combined experience using Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Bitbucket – 2 recent projects (please list which for how long)
Nice-To-Have Skills:
FI / Digital banking experience
Well-rounded knowledge of Agile principles and the flexibility to adapt your experience to
new and evolving environments
Knowledge of a variety of frameworks (server side, browser side, desktop etc.) as well as high
aptitude for diving in and picking up new things
Experience with testing – JUnit, TestNG
Experience with Kubernetes and Google Cloud Platform
Soft Skills Required:
Excellent communication skills including ability to distil technical details into simple terms
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple complex initiatives
Natural Problem Solver
Must be reliable, proactive, results-oriented, customer-focused, and attentive to details.
Must be flexible to adapt to a dynamic environment, make quick and sound decisions under
pressure
Education:
Bachelors or equivalent in computer science or related field is preferred
Best VS. Average Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be able to hit the ground running and require minimal hand holding as part of a collaborative software engineering team; strong technical skills in Spring Boot, Microservices, Kafka, NoSQL, Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$80.00 and CA$90.00
