Story Behind the Need
Business group: MET – Global Risk Management Technology
The Solution Architect will be with GRM Engineering team to be responsible for projects to rebuilding retail risk management systems that serve model development, model validation, model risk governance teams in Risk Management in a holistic manner. This role is a high-impact role responsible for managing a set of tasks and techniques working as a liaison among various stakeholders. The SA needs to understand the structure, policies, and operations of the organization, and recommend technical / business solutions that enable the future state the risk modelling solutions. Typical Day in Role

  • Analyze highly complex business requirements; generate technical specifications to design or redesign complex software components and applications.
  • Building, architecting, designing, and create transformation plan to modernize legacy systems to highly distributed global based systems.
  • Review designs from network infrastructure, security, data, or application development perspective.
  • Aligning solutions to strategic technical and capability roadmaps and identifying new shared capabilities and business opportunities.
  • Inform various stakeholders about any issues with the current technical solutions being implemented.
  • Author architectural patterns to help assessment teams improve and develop their processes.
  • Help drive the implementation of trusted policies and standards with the help internal teams such as Security, Infrastructure, Data, etc.
  • Challenge the application team’s way of thinking by implementing architectural design principles to improve the bank’s security, resiliency and technology footprint.
  • Continuously research current and emerging technologies and propose changes where needed.
  • Socialize with larger audiences using reporting, real-time dashboards, and hosting education sessions.
  • Be flexible and thrive in an evolving environment.
  • Adapt to change quickly and adjust work accordingly in a positive manner.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

  • 10+ years of software engineering/data engineering experience in financial industry
  • Hands on experience with risk model lifecycle in financial industry
  • Excel in persuasive communication and ability to lead and facilitate strategic discussion between multiple teams
  • Experience integrating vendor platforms with internal applications in both on-prem and public cloud hosting. Knowledgeable of network infrastructure, security and resiliency patterns for solutions with 10TB+ data and complex integrations.
  • Knowledge of SAS/SAS Viya vendor platform and integration pattern between GCP and Azure is a strong asset for this

Nice-To-Have Skills:

  • Good understanding of risk management function and capital management function.
  • Experience of architecting a technology solution that will implement the trusted governance framework, policies and workflows.
  • Experience with structured Architecture practices, hybrid cloud deployments, and on-premise to-cloud migration deployments and roadmaps.
  • Sound knowledge of various operating systems, databases, and technologies
  • Ability to create designs and reference architectures for enterprise.
  • Been responsible for the Implementation of a trusted governance model where architecture assessments are automated based on enterprise standards and policies.
  • Proven work experience as a Solution Architect or similar role
  • Previous project management or business SME/architect experience is an asset.
  • In-depth understanding of coding languages and logic structures
  • Disciplined in development methodology and familiar with software development technologies and concepts. Practical experience with systems design and specification for large scale applications.

Curiosity – Able to extract information from technology team to come up with holistic end to end picture.
Presentation – Able present materials in very concise manner for senior leadership
Leadership – excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills to build consensus and obtain co-operation from development teams and technology engineering leaders
Best vs Average: lot of Initiative, motivated candidate and knowledgeable about model lifecycle and model ops.

2nd round – optional if required by HM

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$90.00 and CA$110.00
