SCOPE
The Solution Architect (Data) is responsible for architecting and designing robust, scalable, and efficient data solutions that support the organization’s strategic objectives. This role involves working with cross-functional teams to ensure that the data solutioning and architecture align with business goals, requirements, integrates seamlessly with other systems, and adheres to industry best practices in data governance, security, and compliance.
DUTIES
Architecture Design: Develop end-to-end solution architecture in data and analytics platform, including data ingestion/acquisition, storage solutions, ETL processes, data and analytics pipelines, ML processes, data delivery, BI and reporting in the AWS ecosystem.
Technology Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate data technologies, components, and services that meet business and technical needs.
Integration: define architecture patterns to cover e-2-e data pipeline and integrating with various components in the organization.
 
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:
Must Have:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant field.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) as a Solution Architect or in a similar role focusing on data solutioning in AWS.
  • Experience in architecting, designing, and supporting Data & Analytics (D&A) related platforms in the enterprise level, such as: Data Capturing, Data Organizing (e.g., data storing and retention – databases, data lake, RDBMS), Data Preparation and ML pipelines, Data Delivery and integration (e.g., Power BI, API and streaming), Data Analytics, model management, and AI using AWS services (e.g., S3, EMR, SageMaker, Glue, RDS, Athena, Lambda, DynamoDB, IAM, KMS, and Lake Formation)
  • Experience/strong knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) provisioning services (e.g., terraform) in AWS.
  • Experience of architecting the data solutions considering multiple aspects of architecture such as networking, infrastructure, and security and working with related teams (e.g., architecture, data scientist, QA, DevOps, business, security) to consider their needs/recommendation/guideline on solutioning and preparing related documentation to present to stakeholders (e.g., architecture board) and get their approval.  

Nice to have:

  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
  • Expertise in cloud platforms (Azure, GCP) and related data services.
  • Experience working in agile development environments.
  • Working experience with development process, tools/technology, and solutions: DevOps, CI/CD and automated delivery systems, GitHub, agile practices and tools (e.g., Jira)

DURATION AND POTENTIAL START DATE
Targeted Start date: September 23, 2024
End date: June 23, 2025 (9 months with possibility of extension)
LOCATION OF WORK
Office location: Ottawa or Toronto, Ontario
Hybrid model- minimum 2 days in office
HOURS OF WORK
37.5 hours per week (Monday through Friday)
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS (if applicable):
May require office presence/in-person as required.
 

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$100.00 and CA$120.00
