Our client is a Fiber and 5G broadband company for rural living. They have become one of the country’s largest facilities-based telecommunications providers for residential and business customers. The client is building a world-class Fiber optic and 5G wireless network to enable innovative broadband services for today and future generations.  We are seeking to hire a Sr Spectrum, Compliance & RF Modeling Engineer for our client's fixed Wireless Network strategy division.  The role is WFM remote.  This is a twelve-month contract to start and has a strong chance to be extended for more term based on successful performance.  This is a dynamic team with aggressive network build plans.

The Role
Location: Canada (Remote / Hybrid as applicable)
Reports To: Senior Manager, Fixed Wireless Planning

The Spectrum, Compliance & RF Modeling Engineer (Contract) provides specialized
expertise to support our client’s Fixed Wireless network compliance, spectrum
management, and RF modeling activities. This contract role focuses on regulatory
accuracy, spectrum data integrity, and the management and continuous
improvement of wireless propagation models and coverage simulations using the
propagation tool. The contractor works closely with Planning, RF Engineering, and
Regulatory stakeholders to ensure compliant, accurate, and up-to-date network
representations.
Key Accountabilities
1. Spectrum Licensing & Compliance Support
Maintain and validate spectrum license records, allocations, and parameters
across bands and regions.
 Verify that planned and deployed RF configurations align with licensed and
regulatory constraints.
 Support preparation and review of regulatory filings, submissions, and audit
documentation.

2. Regulatory Analysis & Risk Identification
 Analyze regulatory and license requirements and translate them into
engineering and planning guidance.
 Proactively identify compliance risks related to network design, modeling, or
deployment changes.
 Provide subject-matter support during internal or external compliance audits.

3. Propagation Tool Ownership & Management
 Act as the technical owner and manager of the Atoll propagation tool for Fixed
Wireless planning and coverage analysis.
 Maintain project databases, terrain, clutter, and propagation configurations.
 Ensure modeling standards, assumptions, and documentation are consistent
and auditable.

4. Wireless Coverage Modeling & Prediction Improvement
 Continuously improve RF prediction models and simulation accuracy through
calibration, tuning, and validation against field data.
 Evaluate and refine propagation models to reflect evolving network
architectures, frequencies, and equipment.
 Support scenario analysis, coverage forecasting, and what-if studies for
planning and compliance purposes.

5. Coverage Data Maintenance & Updates
 Maintain and update wireless coverage datasets, maps, and modeling
outputs used by Planning, Engineering, and Regulatory teams.
 Ensure coverage representations remain current with network changes,
spectrum updates, and regulatory requirements.
 Support standardized reporting and data exports from Atoll for internal and
external use.

6. Cross-Functional Technical Support
 Collaborate with Planning, RF Engineering, and Operations teams to align
modeling outputs with deployment realities.
 Provide expert input on RF assumptions used in compliance assessments,
regulatory responses, and business planning.

Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical
field (or equivalent experience).
Strong experience in RF modeling and propagation tools, including hands-on
Atoll expertise.
Solid understanding of Fixed Wireless Access (LTE/5G), RF fundamentals, and
spectrum constraints.
Experience working with regulatory, compliance, or spectrum data in a
telecom environment.
Ability to work independently, manage deliverables, and provide expert-level
technical input as a contractor.

 

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$60.00 and CA$70.00
