Job Title: Sr. Design Manager – Transit Infrastructure
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
Estimated Duration: 9 months
We’re supporting a well-established transportation systems firm in hiring a Sr. Design Manager for a major infrastructure program based in Toronto. This role suits someone who’s detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing both technical reviews and cross-disciplinary coordination.
Role Overview:

Lead comprehensive design conformance assessments for station and guideway packages, including drawings, reports, and 3D models

Delegate review responsibilities across team members and ensure appropriate expertise is assigned

Collaborate with document control and contract teams to establish and maintain review schedules

Oversee the progress and prioritization of ongoing reviews

Manage collaborative review sessions and distribution lists using platforms such as Bluebeam

Summarize findings for project engineering and interface leads

Document and submit formal review comment sheets

Track and report on review progress consistently
What You Bring:
-
At least 5 years of experience in sectors like transit, infrastructure, or heavy industrial design (station layouts, MEP systems, etc.)

Hands-on project coordination experience, including timeline and team oversight

Strong understanding of design clash detection principles

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, project planning tools (MS Project or Primavera), and digital document management systems

Experience leading small to mid-sized engineering teams

Excellent organizational, communication, and team leadership skills

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering (or equivalent technical background)

Active Professional Engineering license in Ontario (P.Eng)
Nice to Have:

Prior work on rail or transit construction/design projects

Exposure to system-level design integration and multi-disciplinary design reviews

Experience facilitating design coordination across various stakeholder groups

Must be eligible for a clear criminal background screening
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$80.00 and CA$100.00
