Job Title: Sr Estimator
Location: Langley, BC
Estimated Duration: Fulltime
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Commercial Glazing Estimator to join our clients team in Langley, BC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial glazing projects, with the ability to accurately assess project costs, prepare detailed estimates, and provide technical expertise throughout the estimating process. The Senior Estimator will work closely with project managers, clients, and contractors to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Estimating: Accurately estimate the cost of materials, labor, and equipment for commercial glazing projects, including curtain walls, storefronts, window installations, and other glazing-related work.
- Takeoffs: Perform detailed material takeoffs from architectural drawings, specifications, and project plans.
- Bid Preparation: Prepare and submit comprehensive bid proposals, including scopes of work, cost breakdowns, and any additional requirements.
- Cost Analysis: Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other project documents to identify areas of potential risk or opportunity. Provide cost-effective solutions for clients and stakeholders.
- Vendor & Supplier Management: Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors. Obtain and evaluate quotes to ensure competitive pricing and quality.
- Risk Assessment: Identify and address potential risks related to materials, installation processes, and project schedules, providing mitigation strategies as necessary.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, contractors, and clients to ensure clear communication regarding scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
- Change Order Management: Manage and assess the impact of any changes to the project scope or materials, ensuring appropriate adjustments to the budget and schedule.
- Technical Expertise: Provide technical support to clients, project teams, and management regarding glazing systems and related components.
- Mentorship & Training: Assist in training and mentoring junior estimators and support staff, helping to build team expertise and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of director experience in commercial glazing estimating with a proven track record of successful project estimation in commercial construction.
- Education: A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred, but relevant experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Knowledge: Strong knowledge of commercial glazing systems, construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, blueprints, and specifications.
