Job Title: Staff Product Designer

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end design process across our product ecosystem, including web applications, data integration experiences, and advanced analytics tools.
  • Collaborate closely with product management, engineering, and scientific teams to translate complex user needs into elegant, intuitive, and highly usable design solutions.
  • Conduct user research, synthesize findings, and advocate for the voice of the customer throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Establish and maintain design systems that scale across multiple product offerings, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and visual excellence.
  • Drive a strong UX strategy that bridges research and clinical workflows, making genomics and multi-omics data accessible to both technical and non-technical users.
  • Create prototypes, mockups, and detailed design specifications to support agile development teams.
  • Champion a user-centered culture, mentoring other designers and influencing product and technical decisions through a design lens.

Ideal Experience 

  • 8+ years of professional experience designing for enterprise SaaS platforms, ideally within health tech, life sciences, or related fields.
  • Mastery of interaction design, information architecture, and visual design principles, with a strong portfolio showcasing complex product work.
  • Deep expertise in leading user research efforts, synthesizing insights, and translating them into impactful product improvements.
  • Strong systems thinking and experience developing scalable, modular design systems.
  • Ability to collaborate seamlessly across product, engineering, and scientific teams, balancing user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
  • Passion for designing products that solve real user problems and improve outcomes in scientific research and healthcare.
  • A strong understanding of accessibility standards and privacy best practices.
  • Experience designing for both web and mobile platforms a plus.
  • Knowledge of genomics, bioinformatics, or related scientific fields is an asset but not required — a curiosity and willingness to learn is essential.
