Technical Sales Representative — Industrial Manufacturing (Ontario)
Salary + Uncapped Commission
St Thomas, Ontario (On Site)
Fulltime
Our client is an established Ontario-based manufacturer of custom-engineered metal components supplying OEMs and contract manufacturers across North America. They are hiring a Technical Sales Representative to own new business development while managing an existing book of accounts.
This is a builder's seat. You will fill your own funnel, open doors at OEMs and contract manufacturers, and convert first conversations into multi-year production programs. You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with estimating, engineering, and operations — you are never selling alone. If you like technical products, plant floors, and customers who become long-term partners, this will fit.
What you'll do
- Build and execute a territory prospecting plan — target accounts, ICP, outreach cadence, weekly activity goals
- Cold call, email, and use LinkedIn to open new accounts; attend trade shows and industry events for lead generation
- Qualify opportunities, scope part requirements and volumes, and partner with estimating and engineering to develop competitive quotes
- Manage full cycle: first contact ? RFQ ? sample approval ? first article ? production launch
- Grow existing accounts through regular check-ins, new part opportunities, share-of-wallet expansion, and fast issue resolution
- Carry the voice of the customer back to the plant on lead times, pricing, quality, and design for manufacturability
- Keep CRM current and deliver accurate pipeline and forecast reporting to leadership
- Travel to customer sites across Ontario, the rest of Canada, and the US as required
What you bring
- 2–4 years of B2B sales, account management, or business development experience
- Background in an industrial or technical environment — manufacturing, machining, tooling, fabrication, industrial distribution, automation, or components. Process-specific experience is not required; training is provided
- Proven ability to build a prospecting plan and work it, including cold calling and self-generated pipeline
- Track record of both winning new logos and growing existing relationships
- Credibility to sit with engineers, buyers, and plant managers in the same week
- Comfort learning technical products; ability to read part drawings and understand tolerances is a strong asset
- CRM proficiency and disciplined follow-up
- Valid driver's licence and valid passport for cross-border travel
