Enterprise Technology Systems Engineer:
Enterprise Systems Engineering team requires capacity and skills to support the I&IT Technology Standards. The work will result in modernization of system standards at the majority of Client sites including maintenance and operational sites as well as integration with corporate and cloud-based systems and environments. This work will includes producing a significant update to the specification in the I&IT technology standards. The standard includes specifications for two way and one-way communications (intercoms and PA), connectivity, device operations, access control, cabling and infrastructure implementation and compliance with respective regulations including but not limited to elevator intercoms. This work will require full-time contracted resource to work with a multitude of internal and external stakeholders to write the specifications, review and contribute to the design and ensure the decoupling of existing legacy systems is sound. The standards specifications must provide the right level to enable open standards, strategic design planning, integration and secure implementation which can be managed well into the future.
The following are mandatory skills and experience required include the following:
- Candidate must have experience with regulatory standards and requirements including recent building code, multi-jurisdictional transportation regulatory requirement for technology, AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act), TSSA (Technical Standards & Safety Authority) safety regulations including elevating devices, adopting technical codes, CSA/ASC like B44 (Safety Code for Elevators).
- Candidate must have completed implementations of at least 3 large sites with control systems including at least 500 distributed control points
- Candidate must have included reviews for compliance and development of specification of standards including 3rd party monitoring, support and operations across multiple remote sites that were integrated including communication, access control, surveillance, two-way communications (eg. Intercoms, Radio, VOIP, AFIL ), networking etc.
- Candidate must have implemented at least 2 building operations/automation systems with at least 500 control points
- Candidate must have authored specifications documents which included current open standards for the systems identified above.
- Candidate must have authored and gained endorsement of technology architecture documents for systems including those above.
- Candidate must be able to clearly and effectively articulate & communicate technical concepts to large and small groups with different levels of competency specifically related to the systems identified above.
The following are additional important skills and experience:
- Candidate has verified compliance of the systems above with their authored specifications.
- Candidate can demonstrate significant experience with regulatory compliance of transportation sites including open standards and protocols for secure access, automation and control including ISA, IEC, ISO, OPA, ONVIF and specifically ISA/IEC 62443 and similar standards for Automation and control systems including cybersecurity. Also including platforms and communication protocols like BACnet, MODbus, OPC, Onvif, JACE, SCADA and others.
- Candidate has hands on experience with current technologies for two way communications including intercoms and including specialized elevator intercoms, access control and automation control systems, networking and cabling products including Cisco, HP, Comnet, Panduit, Mid Atlantic, Aruba Networks, Juniper Networks etc.
- Hands on experience in design and implementation of monitoring of: Access control, Intrusion detection, Smoke Detection, Hold Up, High/Low Temperature, Elevators Intercom, Sump Pump, Inverter and UPS, Low Voltage, Boiler Status, Generator Status, Automatic Transfer Switches, Elevator Status and Alarms, Septic Systems, Gas Detection and Alarms, CCTV Status, Lighting Relays, Payment Systems, Escalator Status, Float Sensors, Snow Melting System, Fire Alarm systems
- Hands on experience with investigations & analysis of various control architectures including secure access, industrial digital control systems, programable logic controllers, building automation, SCADA, networking.
- Hands on experience with applying business processes for controlled systems, building automation, environmental control, security, power, transportation are considered an asset.

- Facilitation experience in working with diverse teams to co-ordinate the development and implementation of a common technical architecture at the various technical levels
- Extensive experience in systems analysis and design in large multi-domain system environments
- Experience defining performance measurement methods, SLA’s, and specifications across different domains and environments
- Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practices
- Knowledge and experience with processes supporting Service Management, ITIL, and operations
- Experience translating business requirements into system specifications and reporting
- Experience preparing conceptual, logical and/or physical processes and data models
- Experience developing, recommending, implementing, and managing technical architecture specifications including developing enterprise architecture deliverables
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$108.00 and CA$118.00
