Position Overview
 
Our client is seeking
 a Telecommunications Network Designer to support the design, implementation, and commissioning of telecommunications and network infrastructure for industrial field facilities. This role is responsible for developing reliable and cost-effective solutions supporting Corporate, SCADA, and Control System networks.
 
The successful candidate will have experience with both network systems and physical telecom infrastructure design, including rack layouts, power, and cabling. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to assess requirements, develop engineering designs, and support projects through commissioning and operational handover.
 
Key Responsibilities
 

  • Design and engineer telecommunications and TCP/IP-based network systems for industrial facilities
  • Develop network designs supporting Corporate, SCADA, and Control System environments
  • Design physical telecom infrastructure including rack layouts, power, and cabling
  • Support lifecycle, growth, and operational enhancement projects
  • Participate in field support, troubleshooting, and remote commissioning activities
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and IS teams to deliver cost-effective and compliant solutions
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, drawings, and technical packages
  • Ensure designs meet company standards, regulatory requirements, and quality expectations

 
Required Qualifications
 

  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
  • Experience designing industrial telecommunications and network infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts
  • Experience with physical telecom design elements including rack space, power, and structured cabling
  • Knowledge of SCADA and industrial network environments
  • Strong communication, customer service, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage multiple schedule-driven projects with a high attention to detail

 
Preferred Qualifications
 

  • Experience with industrial field facilities and field commissioning
  • Familiarity with RS-232 serial protocols
  • Basic understanding of RTUs, PLCs, HMIs, and industrial control systems
  • Experience within pipeline, utilities, energy, or industrial sectors

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$65.00 and CA$80.00
