Job Title: Data Engineer

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Estimated Duration: 12 months

Typical day in the role/Responsibilities:
• Hands-on technical skills in developing batch and real-time data pipelines, DevOps pipelines, and end-to-end processes in Microsoft Azure data and analytics PaaS services.
• Lead the agile software development process, including roadmap planning, cross-team coordination, task assignments, code reviews, sprint demos, and design review and sign-off.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions, collaborating with development teams, architects, and business analysts to ensure adherence to enterprise standards, architecture, and technologies. Deliver modernization of enterprise data solutions using Azure cloud data technologies, designing and building modern data pipelines, data streams, and data service APIs.
• Develop and maintain data warehouse schematics, layouts, architectures, and relational/non-relational databases for data access and advanced analytics. Expose data to end-users using Power BI, Azure API apps, or other modern visualization platforms.
• Mentor other staff members and facilitate knowledge transfer within the team and across departments. Identify opportunities for architectural initiatives and make recommendations to enhance scalability and robustness of platforms and solutions.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

• 8-10 years of experience in designing and developing data warehouses and ETL tools, with a focus on Azure Data Engineering.
• Hands-on experience with ETL processes and automation using Azure Data Factory and Databricks and PySpark.
• Strong expertise in Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Databases, Azure Data Factory
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub, Jenkins and Azure DevOps to configure and build CI/CD pipelines
• Knowledge of BI tools such as PowerBI
• Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
• Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a team-oriented, collaborative work place

Education:
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required.
 

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$60.00 and CA$85.00
