Our client is a leader in the responsible development and reliable and safe operation of North American energy infrastructure. They are one of the continent’s largest providers of gas storage and related services.
 
They are currently looking for an Business Analyst (Intermediate) for Calgary, AB location.
 
 
The Data Governance Business Analyst plays a critical role in developing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's data governance program. This position focuses on establishing data governance frameworks, creating and delivering training programs, and ensuring data policies and standards are effectively communicated across the organization. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between technical data management and business operations to drive data governance maturity.
 
Key responsibilities include:
 
Program Development
 
  • Design and implement data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures aligned with organizational objectives
  • Develop data governance operating models, including roles, responsibilities, and decision-making processes
  • Create and maintain data governance documentation, including policies, standards, and procedures
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify data governance requirements and develop tailored solutions
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of the data governance program
 
Training and Communication
 
  • Develop comprehensive data governance training materials and curricula for various audiences
  • Deliver training sessions to educate staff on data governance principles, policies, and procedures
  • Create awareness campaigns to promote data governance best practices across the organization
  • Facilitate workshops to engage stakeholders in data governance initiatives
  • Develop communication plans to effectively disseminate data governance information
 
Analysis and Assessment
 
  • Conduct data governance maturity assessments to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement
  • Analyze business processes to identify data governance integration points
  • Document and map data flows to understand data lineage and governance requirements
  • Assess the impact of regulatory changes on data governance practices
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of data governance controls and recommend improvements
 
Stakeholder Engagement
 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of data governance initiatives
  • Facilitate data governance committee meetings and working groups
  • Serve as a liaison between technical teams and business units on data governance matters
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders to drive adoption of data governance practices
  • Gather and document business requirements for data governance tools and solutions
 
Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Management, Computer Science, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related roles
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, frameworks, and best practices
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences
  • Experience developing training materials and delivering training sessions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
 
Preferred
 
  • Master's degree in related field
  • Data governance or data management certifications (CDMP, DGPO, etc.)
  • Experience implementing data governance tools and technologies
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.)
  • Project management experience or certification
  • Experience with change management methodologies

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$38.00 and CA$45.00
