Description:
Our client in the public sector is seeking two developers to support their Fleet Services Division that operates a Driver Training & Safety application (DTS) developed around 1998. This application has now surpassed its operational lifespan and requires replacement. The DTS serves as a crucial management tool, ensuring compliance with legislative, regulatory, and policy mandates related to the safe operation of fleet assets across all divisions and numerous agencies
The technology development resources are required to support the implementation of Driver, Driver's Permit, Accident and Fine Management project and includes development of:
Driver portal web app and Driver management integration module to integration with internal systems such as SAP SuccessFactors, MTO (Ministry of Transport of Ontario) and ELI (Internal learning management system).
Duties
The Development Specialist is responsible for:
• Develop, upgrade, test, implement, and document software components of client applications
• Work independently and/or within teams throughout all phases of the development lifecycle
• Communicate with end users, business analysts, and systems analysts to determine features, requirements and solution design
• Develop enhancements to suite of applications using leading software principles
• Document technical specifications and designs
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues as needed
• Adhere to established design, coding, naming and standards
• Participate in code reviews and apply corrections as required
• Adhere to change control processes
• Write/revise documentation including operations and user guidelines
Qualifications
• University/Community College degree in Computer Science / Electronic Engineering or equivalent a definite asset.
• Demonstrated expertise in the field of software design and development.
• Experience developing web applications – front end and back end, integration module, batch scripts and database development.
• Experience developing designs and code and acting as a key contributor on project teams using knowledge of software tools, applications, platforms, databases, system software, operating systems and processes like Visual Basic, JavaScript, SQL, Oracle, Microsoft, WebSphere, Unix, Linux and Flat Files, web development (front end and back end)
• Client Server development skills
• Good understanding of software security and application performance best practices
• Experience in data modelling, temporal data management
• Clear understanding of Business Requirements, Statement of Work, and software development frameworks. Solid understanding of System Development Life Cycle and other methodologies such as RUP.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$75.00 and CA$85.00
