Job Title: Electrical Engineer III
Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid)

Overview:
Our client, a leader in North American energy infrastructure, is seeking a Electrical Engineer to oversee electrical and controls design for major capital projects in compressor station and pipeline systems. This individual will ensure compliance with technical standards, manage external engineering firms, support construction and commissioning efforts, and provide technical leadership on power, controls, and instrumentation systems. The role involves a high level of cross-functional collaboration and directly impacts project success, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee electrical and controls design on compressor station projects (10,000–30,000 HP turbine/motor driven).

Ensure all designs meet NEC requirements and align with company/industry standards.

Manage third-party engineering deliverables, scope, cost, and schedule.

Review and approve technical documentation, specifications, drawings, and vendor packages.

Provide construction and commissioning phase support.

Interface with Project Managers, Engineering Supervisors, and Operations stakeholders.

Offer technical mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to process improvements.

Lead technical evaluations of vendor quotes for major electrical and mechanical components.

Monitor and incorporate lessons learned and safety/environmental regulations into design.
Systems Expertise Required:
Power Systems (480V–4160V):
-
MCCs, switchgear, synchronous motors, auto transfer switches, generators, grounding, CP systems.
-
Cable/conduit sizing, relays, overload protection.
Control Systems:
-
Allen-Bradley/PLC-based systems, Wonderware HMI, motor control circuits, PID controllers, ESD systems.
Instrumentation:
-
Rosemount/Honeywell smart transmitters, RTDs/thermocouples, gas/flame detection, pressure/DP/level instruments.
Required Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

7+ years in capital project design and execution, including compressor or industrial plant experience

Strong experience managing engineering contractors and technical deliverables

Deep knowledge of NEC standards and hazardous area classification
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Professional Engineer (P.E. or P.Eng.) designation

Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and manage multiple priorities

Strong communication skills, capable of presenting complex technical info to cross-functional teams
-
Familiarity with regulatory and EH&S requirements in energy infrastructure projects
The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is between $55.00 and $60.00
