Job Description
Support to drive data governance initiatives that improve data quality, compliance, and usability across the enterprise. Partner with business, technology, and risk teams to define standards, streamline processes, and enable trusted, well-documented data.
Key responsibilities include, but are are not limited to:
• Requirements and Analysis: Elicit, document, and prioritize data governance requirements (policies, standards, controls, metrics)
• Data Quality and Controls: Define DQ rules, thresholds, and KPIs; coordinate issue triage, root-cause analysis, and remediation.
• Metadata and Lineage: Support cataloging, business glossary, and lineage capture; ensure ownership and stewardship are assigned.
• Policy and Compliance: Translate regulatory and internal policy needs into actionable controls and procedures.
• Operating Model: Help design RACI, workflows, and approval gates for data ingestion, curation, and access.
• Stakeholder Management: Facilitate forums with data stewards, product owners, and engineers; track decisions and actions.
• Process Improvement: Map current/future-state processes; identify automation opportunities and standardize best practices.
• Reporting & Documentation: Maintain governance scorecards; produce insights on data health, risk, and adoption. Collaborate with data governance engineers to ensure the runbooks, design documents,
Qualifications:
• Experience in data governance, data management, or business analysis.
• Familiarity with data catalogs (e.g., Informatica CDGC, Microsoft Purview), lineage tools (e.g., Databrick Unity Catalog), DQ platforms (Informatica CDQ), and metadata standards.
• Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills; adept at translating business needs into technical requirements.
Candidate Requirements
Must-Have Skills:
1) Data governance expertise: Policies, standards, controls, stewardship, operating models (RACI)
2) Business analysis: Requirements elicitation, prioritization, process mapping (current/future state)
3) Tools proficiency: Data catalog/lineage/DQ platforms (e.g., Informatica IDMC, Microsoft Purview, Databricks Unity Catalog); familiarity with reporting/BI tools, proficiency with Microsoft suite (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel).
4) Stakeholder management: Facilitation, consensus-building, decision tracking across business/tech/risk
5) Communication and documentation: Craft clear, concise, audience-tailored narratives. Produce structured reports, executive summaries with crisp visuals, consistent definitions, and traceable metrics. Maintain rigorous documentation (decision logs, RACI, policy mappings) with version control, accessibility, and audit readiness.
6) Process improvement and automation: Workflow design, standardization, CI/CD awareness
7) Analytical thinking: Insight generation, KPI interpretation, anomaly identification.
Nice-to-have Skills—
1) Understanding of basic programming language (e.g., SQL & Python) is an asset.
Years of Experience: 5-7 years of full-time work experience.
Degrees/Certifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in relevant business areas, such as business management, finance, and/or computer science.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$60.00 and CA$75.00
