The organization supports complex, real-time operations through a combination of technology, data, and analytics, with a strong emphasis on safety, reliability, and operational excellence.

As part of a broader digital modernization initiative, the organization has invested in a cloud-based, enterprise data and analytics platform. This platform enables large-scale data integration, advanced analytics, visualization, and decision support for both internal teams and external stakeholders, with a focus on security, governance, and scalability.

Key objectives of this platform include modernizing legacy data capabilities, improving enterprise-wide decision-making, enabling advanced analytics use cases, and supporting secure data sharing and collaboration.

Scope of Role

We are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer to support a major enterprise analytics initiative within this cloud data platform. The successful candidate will contribute to a high-visibility program focused on advanced analytics and operational insight, working closely with data, technology, and business stakeholders.

This is a hands-on role requiring both strong technical execution and the ability to operate effectively within a structured, enterprise delivery environment.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements & Testing

• Analyze business and user needs, documenting functional and non-functional requirements and translating them into technical specifications.

• Identify gaps or risks in requirements and assess the feasibility of proposed technical solutions.

• Develop and execute functional, integration, and non-functional test cases aligned with business and design documentation.

• Perform testing of Power BI reports and dashboards, document results, and support issue resolution.

• Support stakeholders during User Acceptance Testing (UAT) cycles.

Power BI Development

• Design, develop, and deploy Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models aligned to business requirements.

• Build and optimize data models that integrate multiple enterprise data sources, applying best practices in star schema design, DAX, performance tuning, and usability.

• Design and manage data refresh strategies, including gateway configuration and scheduled refresh processes.

• Develop proof-of-concept solutions to validate reporting and analytical approaches.

  Analytics Platform Governance

• Design and implement enterprise-level governance controls for analytics environments, including workspace structure, naming conventions, and lifecycle management.

• Configure role-based access, row-level security, data security policies, and sensitivity labeling.

  Documentation & Collaboration

• Develop and maintain technical documentation such as architecture diagrams, data flows, and operational procedures.

• Share best practices and contribute to analytics standards across the development team.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other team members as needed.

• Participate in project meetings and provide regular updates on progress, risks, and deliverables.

• Establish monitoring, capacity management, and performance optimization practices.

Key Deliverables

• Proofs of concept, architectural recommendations, and design documentation supporting scalable Power BI and cloud analytics operations.

• Production-ready Power BI data models, dashboards, reports, and associated technical artifacts.

• Implementation of analytics governance standards, security configurations, and environment lifecycle management practices.

• Comprehensive test documentation, including test cases, execution results, and defect tracking.

• End-user documentation and regular status reporting to project stakeholders.

  Engagement Details

  This is a full-time contract role with a long-term engagement and potential for extension. Standard full-time hours are required.

  The role follows a hybrid work model, with a mix of on-site and remote work. On-site presence is expected several days per week, subject to project needs.

  Mandatory Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and delivering Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions, including advanced data modeling with DAX.

• 5+ years of experience working with cloud-based data platforms, including data lakes, relational databases, and data processing frameworks.

• Strong experience across the full systems development lifecycle, including analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment.

• Experience implementing batch and streaming data pipelines.

• Advanced SQL skills, including performance tuning and data optimization.

• Proven experience designing and testing data solutions for analytics and reporting platforms.

  Preferred Qualifications

• Experience delivering large-scale analytics or business intelligence initiatives in complex enterprise environments.

• Experience deploying and governing modern analytics platforms, including security controls, workspace architecture, monitoring, and performance management.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience working in Agile delivery environments and sprint-based development models.

• Exposure to spatial, geospatial, or operational datasets is considered an asset.
