Job Title: IT Architect I
Location:  Toronto, ON
Estimated Duration: 6 Months

Description:
Key Responsibilities:

  • Architectural Design: Lead the design and development of scalable, robust, and secure data processing solutions tailored to meet Manulife's business requirements. Ensure alignment with our enterprise architecture strategies.
  • Project Management: Oversee Workflow Management projects from inception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and business analysts. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members to foster a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Technology Evaluation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in data processing, machine learning, and AI. Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to enhance our Workflow Management capabilities.
  • Solution Implementation: Lead the implementation of efficient data processing pipelines and workflows, ensuring data is ingested, transformed, and analyzed effectively.
  • Governance and Compliance: Ensure all data processing activities comply with relevant regulations, industry standards, and Manulife’s internal policies.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of architectural designs, project plans, and technical specifications. Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project status and performance metrics.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Data Architect, Solutions Architect, or similar role, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of data processing platforms, cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), and big data frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
  • Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with intelligent data processing tools and platforms.
  • Relevant certifications in cloud architecture or data engineering.
  • Familiarity with data governance and regulatory compliance in the insurance industry.

 

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$67.00 and CA$77.00
