Position: Nuclear Assessor
Duration: 1-year contract
Location: Pickering, Ontario
Summary:
- Provide Technical input to customers as required.
- Preparing Assessment Work Packages (Enhanced Jobs Cards, Information, Detailed)
- Review of Design modification documents for constructability and maintainability during the planning phase of work.
- Identify potential workplace hazards, with help from facility representative if needed.
- Engaging with the facility on the appropriate level of Foreign Material Exclusion (FME) level to be provided
- Identify materials and special tooling requirements
- Identify appropriate level of documentation and prepare corresponding work instructions.
- Identify related procedures/manuals and appropriate references and incorporate in work packages.
- Recommend substitutions for equipment or components and initiate the ECC (Engineering Change Control) process as required.
- Estimate and procure materials and equipment.
- Estimating Trades Resources to complete the work.
- Review of components maintenance history and associated documentation to provide guidance for return to service activities.
- Utilizing a CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) to Plan, Organize and Prioritize work.
- Initiate Digging/Drilling and Coring Permits: (Review facility drawings for embedded and underground hazards )
- FCRs (Field Change Requests) submitted to design for changes found in the field during modification/ construction/installation/.
- Photograph and document field findings during job planning phase.
- Ensuring any requirements for PMT (Post Maintenance Testing) is identified.
Work execution
- Assist in the execution of field installations to ensure work is performed safely, meeting all work package and QC requirements
- Review and recognition of the Risk Analysis provided by the ECC process as required when safely planning work.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship in one or more relevant industrial trades and a minimum of two years pertinent technical experience as a journeyman in the area of industrial maintenance, construction and / or manufacturing.
OR
- Graduation from an Institute of Technology or equivalent with a minimum of six years’ experience in industrial maintenance, construction and/or manufacturing (mechanical OR electrical)
- Must possess a high sense of individual responsibility and be able to work in a “Safety-First” environment acknowledging that nuclear technology is special and unique.
- Knowledge/ understanding of ECC process is highly desirable
- Working knowledge of the current Occupational Health and Safety Act and CLC part II is required.
- Must be familiar with business software such as E-mail, MS Word, MS Excel.
- Experience in Nuclear industry is preferred,
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$65.00 and CA$80.00
