Summary:
Our client is looking for a senior, highly seasoned Business Analyst with deep insurance industry experience and a strong background in complex data transformation initiatives.
The ideal candidate can quickly bring structure to ambiguity, lead requirements discovery across multiple stakeholder groups, develop clear business definitions and business rules, document and optimize business processes, assess impacts to enterprise data, and drive decisions with urgency. This individual must be comfortable challenging assumptions, navigating difficult stakeholder dynamics, and establishing clarity and alignment in a highly complex Pricing Data Foundation program.
Details:
Insurance Industry Experience
- Deep experience working within the insurance industry, ideally with pricing, underwriting, or data-related initiatives.
- Ability to understand insurance concepts, processes, and data with minimal onboarding.
Strong Data Project Experience, Business Definitions & Business Rules
- Proven track record leading business analysis activities for large-scale data transformation and data foundation initiatives.
- Strong understanding of how business processes, business definitions, business rules, calculations, and decision logic translate into data requirements and solution design.
- Experience developing and documenting business definitions, business glossaries, data definitions, and business rules where standards are not already established.
- Ability to facilitate discussions that drive alignment on business terminology, calculations, measures, and key data concepts across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Strong understanding of data flows, data lineage, source systems, and the downstream impacts of changes to business requirements, definitions, and rules.
- Experience assessing how business processes, business policies, and business rules affect data structures, data quality, reporting, analytics, and operational processes.
- Ability to establish traceability between business objectives, business requirements, business rules, business processes, and data requirements.
- Proven ability to bridge conversations between business stakeholders, data teams, architects, and technology delivery teams.
Operating in Ambiguous Environments
- Demonstrated success delivering projects where business requirements are unclear, evolving, or not fully documented.
- Skilled at facilitating workshops, eliciting requirements, identifying gaps, and driving alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Comfortable working through ambiguity and helping define target-state processes, capabilities, and requirements.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Exceptional facilitation, relationship management, and communication skills.
- Experience working with senior leaders, business owners, technology teams, data teams, and operational stakeholders.
- Ability to navigate challenging stakeholder dynamics, resolve conflicting priorities, and build consensus across multiple levels of the organization.
- Confident challenging assumptions and driving decisions when required.
Sense of Urgency & Delivery Focus
- Self-starter who requires minimal direction and can quickly become productive.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and maintain momentum in a complex environment.
- Strong organizational skills with a focus on delivering tangible outcomes and moving work forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead requirements discovery and analysis for the Pricing Data Foundation initiative in a highly complex, ambiguous environment.
- Develop business definitions, business rules, decision logic, and process documentation while ensuring alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Translate business needs into actionable business and data requirements, assessing impacts to data structures, quality, reporting, and downstream processes.
- Facilitate stakeholder workshops, drive decisions, manage challenging stakeholder dynamics, and build consensus across business and technology teams.
- Identify risks, dependencies, and gaps while maintaining momentum and ensuring timely delivery of outcomes.
- Support project governance, decision tracking, and stakeholder communications.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$100.00 and CA$110.00
