Position Title: Database Administrator
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Typical Day in Role:
- Monitor the system, and act upon system and application automated alerts
- Perform diagnostics, testing, and troubleshooting of software, o/s, and database issues
- (ex. correcting installation, configuration, or data problems)
- Plan and perform software installation, configuration, upgrade and patching
- Plan and perform database configuration, maintenance, upgrade and patching
- Perform and manage system and database backups
- Perform manual switch to redundant system / database components, in case of system failure
- Provide on-site database and system support
- Monitor, collect statistical information, and provide reporting on capacity and system performance
- Based on statistics, make recommendations to maintain and improve capacity and system performance

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
- 8+ years Database Administration experience with MSSQL (combined experience with the following 2022/2019/2017/2016/2014/2012)
- 8+ years experience in providing technical support, covering database administration and
- operations to include monitoring maintenance capacity, performance
- monitoring/planning and incident/problem troubleshooting and resolution
- 5+ years of Experience with SQL Always-On, mirroring, clustering and data replication, and experience with MSSQL components (SSRS/SSAS/SSIS/Fulltext/Polybase/R).
- 3+ years of Experience with application side tuning versus server-side tuning
- 5+ years of Experience with Windows server 2012/2016/2019
Nice-To-Have Skills:
- Experience with Windows 10/8/7 client operating systems.
- Experience with VB, C#, Power shell, Azure Cloud
- Experience with use of PostgreSQL and Linux, ksh
- Experience providing DBA support for Public Cloud MSSQL offerings such as Azure MI, Azure SQL Databases, and GCP Cloud SQL MSSQL.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required
Best VS. Average Candidate:
The ideal candidate would have experience providing DBA support for Public Cloud MSSQL offerings such as Azure MI, Azure SQL Databases, and GCP Cloud SQL MSSQL.
Need someone who takes care of the entire process:
Database Sub-tier deployment – SQL integration – installing components
Data Platform/Application Support – DBA should know which technical services need to be provided to get the application running on the database created
Ongoing support – after goLive, ensuring everything runs smoothly
not looking for candidate who can only do part of function, can't just be familiar with sub-function of requirements
need to provide end to support on databases
need experience with SQL installation and deployment, supporting project before GoLive, working with application teams to get the database customized for the application, managing afterlife after GoLive – manage any issues that arise – need to be able to answer questions such as (need experience with at least 75% of the requirements – Manager will consider candidates who show interest and potential to learn any missing experience)
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$51.00 and CA$61.00
