Senior Electrical Designer (Aerospace & Space Systems)

Duration: 6 month contract
Location: Brampton, ON

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Designer with 5 to 10 years of experience to spearhead the development of high-reliability electrical systems. This role is central to designing mission-critical hardware for both space-flight and terrestrial aerospace applications where precision and durability are non-negotiable.

Key Responsibilities

  • PCB & CCA Development: Lead the design and layout of complex Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) and Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA), ensuring they meet the rigorous standards required for aerospace environments.

  • Advanced Harnessing & Routing: Design and model intricate cable assembly systems and rotary interface mechanisms, performing detailed 3D modeling and routing for complex avionics suites.

  • Systems Integration & Constraints: Drive design activities for avionics chassis while managing high-stakes constraints: including EMI/EMC compliance, thermal dissipation, structural integrity, and strict mass/volume limits.

  • Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration: Partner with mechanical, structural, and thermal analysis teams to seamlessly integrate electrical hardware into unified 3D system models.

  • Production Readiness: Oversee the generation of comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOM), production drawings, and assembly instructions to ensure a smooth transition from design to manufacturing.

  • Standardization: Help build and maintain internal electrical CAD libraries and develop standardized templates for future aerospace projects.

Candidate Profile

  • Professional Experience: 5 to 10 years in electrical design, specifically within the aerospace or defense sectors.

  • Technical Expertise: Mastery of electrical CAD tools and engineering drawing standards. Deep knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is essential.

  • Domain Knowledge: Solid understanding of space-sector requirements: such as radiation hardening, vacuum-stable materials, and high-vibration tolerance.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering (or a related Aerospace discipline).

  • Mindset: A results-oriented professional who excels in dynamic, requirement-heavy environments and values a collaborative “dream team” culture.

Security & Compliance

  • Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain Reliability Status security clearance.

  • Regulatory: Must meet all eligibility requirements for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
