Our Systems Engineering Group is looking for a candidate to join our fast-paced dynamic environment supporting our Admin Systems Applications Team. The role includes duties through all phases of the SDLC with a focus on supporting existing custom solutions to our internal customers. Our environment is in constant update as we work to uplift and improve existing apps as well as develop and provide new functionality to our customers.
The focus of this engagement is to complete some functional enhancements to several of our application that the business owners have identified and complete some technology uplift activities.
Job Title: Full Stack Developer (Angular 17 / Java 21 / PostgreSQL)
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Developer to take on a critical modernization project: the end-to-end rewrite of our existing legacy Struts application into state-of-the-art modern architecture. In this role, you will be instrumental in building this new application from the ground up using the latest technologies. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking developer who leverages modern AI tools like GitHub Copilot to write clean, efficient code and has a strong command of Angular 17, Java 21, the latest Spring frameworks, and PostgreSQL.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Experience Building New Applications: Proven, hands-on experience building and launching a new application from scratch is a strict requirement for this role.
- Experience Level: 4+ years of professional experience in developing, debugging, and deploying robust web applications.
- Core Tech Stack:
- Front-End: Strong proficiency in modern web development using Angular 17.
- Back-End: Deep expertise in Java 21 and the latest Spring/Spring Boot versions.
- Database: Solid experience working with PostgreSQL for data storage and management.
- AI-Assisted Development: Practical knowledge and experience using GitHub Copilot to enhance coding efficiency and productivity.
Legacy Modernization & Maintenance Responsibilities:
- Primary Project: Lead the end-to-end rewrite and modernization of an existing legacy Struts application into the new Spring Boot and Angular 17 stack.
- Legacy Support: Provide interim maintenance and support for the existing J2EE application (Java, Spring, Struts, and EJB on WebSphere Application Server 8.5) during the transition phase.
Assets (Nice-to-Haves):
- Architecture: Experience in architecting a full-stack modern application is highly valued.
- DevOps & Deployment: Experience with containerization using Docker and CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
Skills and Experience:
- Able to work collaboratively with the team and guide the team in technical aspects.
- Comfort working directly with End Users to support issues or elicit new requirements is essential.
- Capability to provide work estimates, test plans, deployment procedures and documentation is a must.
- Good oral and written communications skills is a must.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$60.00 and CA$70.00
