Our end client a multi-disciplined EPC in Calgary is looking for an I&E Facilities Engineer to help with a major US client. They're looking for an engineer who can quickly integrate into an established brownfield project team and help safely deliver a high volume of facility modification projects. The ideal candidate combines solid facilities engineering fundamentals with strong project execution skills, field engagement, and a commitment to Operational Excellence. They are comfortable working in operating facilities, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and partnering with Operations and Construction teams to deliver reliable business results.
Job Description:
Designs, selects, tests, installs, monitors, modifies, and maintains safe and reliable electrical power systems and equipment, instrumentation, and process automation systems (PAS) for new and existing facilities. Optimizes electrical power, instrumentation, and PAS integrity, reliability, safety, and efficiency.
Responsible for I&E engineering design and installation for a portfolio of small and medium Greenfield/Brownfield projects and providing support to existing base operations. Responsible for insuring well hook-up and facility instrumentation, control, and electrical system design, installation, start up, and commissioning are conducted in a safe and efficient manner. Works with the FE greenfield and brownfield project teams to deliver seamless small project construction work packages. Serve as the Electrical field engineer (FE) point contact for FE work within an assigned area. The role of the I&E Engineer will include but is not limited to: Developing instrumentation, control, and electrical discipline deliverables (e.g. control philosophies, Cause and Effects diagrams, P&IDs, area classifications drawings, load analysis), delivery of I&E engineering construction work package. Ensuring all vendor supplied equipment packages meet the applicable instrument, control, and electrical specifications. Participating and contributing to safety reviews as applicable. Managing multiple project schedules and cost tracking. Planning timely material deliveries.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- An engineer with approximately 5-10 years of experience, preferably within the Oil & Gas industry, and with a demonstrated background supporting brownfield projects.
- Experience executing brownfield capital projects in operating facilities.
- Strong understanding of Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) and Upstream facilities engineering design, construction, and commissioning activities. Preference to candidates with strong (coordination, arc-flash, motor acceleration analyses) electrical power background (480V and below).
- Familiarity with Management of Change (MOC) processes and working within highly regulated environments.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including Operations, Maintenance, Process Engineering, Project Management, and contractors.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously while maintaining schedule commitments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, particularly when working with field personnel and project teams.
- Experience with engineering contractors (e.g., EPC/EPCM firms) and review of engineering deliverables.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$90.00 and CA$105.00
