Position Title: IT Project Manager
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Story Behind the Need
As Scotiabank continues its digital transformation journey, the adoption of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a strategic priority to enhance scalability, security, and innovation. To ensure a seamless onboarding experience for new tenants, we require a Technical Navigator who can bridge the gap between business and platform teams, ensuring alignment, clarity, and execution from proof of concept to production.

Business Group
Customer Data and Analytics – Business Architecture.
This organizational unit is responsible for supporting business needs through technology. We enable business lines to innovate rapidly while maintaining compliance and operational excellence. The team provides foundational cloud services, tools, and governance frameworks that empower business units to build and scale digital solutions efficiently and securely.

Project
The candidate will lead the onboarding of a new business unit onto Google Cloud. This includes managing the end-to-end process from initial engagement and proof of concept through to production deployment. The role involves coordinating with multiple stakeholders including security, compliance, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure a smooth and compliant transition to GCP.

Typical Day in Role
Act as the primary relationship manager between the business unit and platform teams.
Facilitate and manage onboarding activities including discovery, planning, and execution.
Navigate complex business processes and regulatory requirements.
Track project milestones, risks, and dependencies.
Provide regular updates to stakeholders and ensure alignment across teams.

Candidate Requirements / Must Have Skills
3-4 years of experience in technical project or program management in cloud or enterprise IT environments.
3 -4 years of experience working with Google Cloud Platform or other major cloud providers (AWS, Azure).
3-4 years of experience in stakeholder management and cross-functional team coordination.
Proven experience managing end-to-end cloud onboarding or migration projects.

Nice-To-Have Skills
Google Cloud certifications (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect, Cloud Digital Leader).
Experience in the financial services industry or other regulated environments.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

Soft Skills Required
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to influence and drive consensus among diverse stakeholders.
Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach.
High attention to detail and organizational skills.

Best vs. Average Candidate
The best candidate is someone who not only understands the technical aspects of cloud onboarding but also excels at stakeholder engagement, risk management, and navigating enterprise governance. They are proactive, adaptable, and capable of translating complex technical concepts into business-friendly language.

Education & Certificates
Post-secondary education is required, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Google Cloud certifications are a strong asset.
 

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$50.00 and CA$55.00
