Our client is a leader in the responsible development and reliable and safe operation of North American energy infrastructure. They are one of the continent’s largest providers of gas storage and related services.

They are currently looking for a Material Coordinator for Houston, TX location.
 
Job Description:
This role is for a Material Coordinator.
The office-based Material Coordinator supports project management by ensuring the correct materials are ordered, delivered on time to the correct location, and properly received in SAP. This role will report to the Manager of Project Management and will support multiple Project Managers within GPMC West.
Core Functions:
Review Bill of Material (BOM) with Project Engineer to identify client-supplied materials. Typical milestones where this occurs:

  • 30% design (long lead equipment and materials)
  • 60% design (commodity items with longer lead times)
  • 90% design (readily available bulk/commodity items)
  • IFC and beyond (to capture any missing items)
  • As directed by Project Engineer for projects that do not require third party design

Prepare initial MRF for Project Engineer’s approval. Includes the following information:

  • Material Master (if known)
  • Material Description and Quantity
  • Project Charge Code
  • Delivery Location (per Project Manager)
  • Required Delivery Date (per Project Manager)
  • Requirements for 3PI

Send approved MRF to Supply Chain to request quotation or bid.

  • Route quotes/bids to Project Engineer for approval.
  • Request new SAP Material Master when required.
  • Convert approved MRF and quote into SAP requisition.
  • Receive vendor submittals (MTRs, certs, drawings, etc.) from Buyer and route to Project Engineer for approval.
  • Send approved vendor submittals to Document Controller for appropriate handling.
  • Review Material Status Report (MSR) with Expeditor monthly and proactively informs Project Manager of any delivery risks.
  • Monitor PO completion and work with Buyer to close and decommit POs in a progressive fashion.
  • Gather necessary information for preliminary entity load sheets, complete and submit preliminary entity load sheets to Maintenance Planning team.
  • Provide field-based construction team with relevant documentation.
  • Enter Goods Receipts for all items (except those delivered to client warehouses – warehouse personnel will typically handle). Exception is progress payments for major equipment and materials which will be handled by Project Controller.
  • Enter requisitions to adjust requisitioned quantities based on actual quantities received, where applicable (e.g. pipe footage).
  • Reorder materials to address quality issues or shortages identified by field-based construction team (repeat applicable steps above).

Responsibilities exclude:

  • Field-based receiving/quality checking of delivered materials.
  • Expeditor & Document Controller responsibilities.
  • NCRs and other Quality functions.
  • Technical subject matter expertise.
  • Vendor qualification requests and verification.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field or five (5) years’ experience in materials management, project management, or construction management.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a large, geographically diverse organization.
  • Ability to recognize and evaluate risks.
  • Familiar with engineering drawings, Bills of Material, and other technical documents.
  • Familiar with industry standards for material specifications (API, ASME, etc.).
  • Deep understanding of basic materials procurement processes.
  • Understanding of the project life cycle.
  • Experience with Microsoft Desktop Software; Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with SAP, SharePoint, and Power Bi is a plus.

Education/Experience:

  • Post-Secondary Education
  • 6 years of relevant experience

The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is between $35.00 and $38.00
