Senior Mulesoft Developer

Our client in the Aviation space is seeking a Senior MuleSoft Developer to join a high-velocity Scrum team. Shifting from discovery to active build, you will translate finalized Interface Diagrams and sample message data into production-ready integrations. You will work under the direction of the Portfolio Architect to modernize core airline operations systems, focusing on high-reliability messaging and industry-specific data transformations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Technical Execution: Develop and implement complex integrations on the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, moving from discovery toward rapid application design, build, and test.
  • Message Transformation: Build robust transformations for Airline Industry Systems, specifically handling TYPE B messaging (to/from), XML, and JSON formats.
  • Protocol Management: Implement and manage integrations involving RabbitMQ (AMQP), SFTP, and REST/SOAP APIs.
  • Data Mapping: Perform deep field-level mapping based on provided vendor documentation and third-party sample messages, ensuring alignment with defined Canonical Models.
  • API Governance: Support the Governance Council by adhering to established standards, contributing to the API Registry, and ensuring all assets follow the “API-led connectivity” layers.
  • Testing & Quality: Own the Unit Testing and System Integration Testing (SIT) for all developed components. Collaborate with the internal Data Quality Conversion Specialist to validate complex airline data sets.
  • Collaboration: Work within a flexible resource pool, providing daily/weekly progress updates and participating effectively in a multi-vendor development environment.
  • Observability: Support troubleshooting and debugging once GO-LIVE.

Technical Skills & Qualifications

MuleSoft & Infrastructure Expertise:

  • Platform Mastery: Expert-level proficiency with MuleSoft Anypoint Studio, CloudHub, and API Manager
  • Connectivity & Security: Hands-on experience with Secrets Manager, TLS, VPN/IPsec tunnels, and platform observability using Anypoint Monitoring & Visualizer, Dynatrace.
  • Messaging: Proven experience integrating with RabbitMQ or similar message brokers and secure file transfers (SFTP).
  • API Design: Strong understanding of YAML/OAS, API design principles, and microservices architecture.
  • Modular Design: Ability to create reusable, modular APIs that are discoverable across the enterprise.

Logic & Transformation:

  • Complexity Management: Ability to handle a 40:40:20 complexity split (Simple/Medium/High), moving beyond simple passthroughs to complex orchestrated flows using DataWeave.
  • Industry Context: Awareness of Airline Operations data is highly beneficial.
  • Full-Stack Background: Past experience working as a JAVA full-stack developer is a nice-to-have.
  • Data Persistence: Comfortable working with Data Transformations and Persistent Data Storage using Mulesoft Ecosystem.

Professional Attributes:

  • Execution Mindset: Proactive in taking a defined Solution Architecture (SA) and Interface Diagram and moving directly into technical build.
  • Agile Proficiency: Experience working in a Scrum team using JIRA and Confluence for tracking and documentation.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to suggest alternative technical approaches to improve performance or scalability while staying within the project’s governance framework.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification: MuleSoft Certified Developer or Platform Architect.
  • DevOps: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and sub-versioning tools, specifically Bitbucket.

Ecosystem Knowledge: General understanding of integration patterns or specialized MuleSoft connectors.
