A leading financial institution is seeking a Senior Business Process Engineer to support business process transformation and optimization initiatives across its Capital Markets organization. This role will work closely with senior business stakeholders and subject matter experts across Front Office, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Technology to analyze, redesign, and optimize complex end-to-end business processes.

The successful candidate will bring a strong business analysis, process engineering, and consulting mindset, with the ability to assess current-state processes, identify inefficiencies and control gaps, and design practical future-state processes that improve efficiency, scalability, client experience, and risk management.

The role will focus heavily on front-to-back process analysis and re-engineering across the Capital Markets lifecycle, including client onboarding, KYC/AML, trade execution, post-trade processing, settlements, and regulatory controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead detailed business process analysis and re-engineering initiatives across Capital Markets, covering Front Office, Middle Office, and Back Office functions.
  • Assess and document current-state processes, workflows, business rules, controls, systems, roles, and dependencies.
  • Design future-state processes and operating workflows, identifying opportunities to simplify, standardize, automate, and improve business outcomes.
  • Identify process inefficiencies, bottlenecks, duplication, manual activities, control gaps, and operational risks, and develop recommendations for improvement.
  • Analyze processes related to client onboarding, KYC, AML, trade execution, confirmations, settlements, collateral management, and trade lifecycle events.
  • Facilitate process mapping and discovery workshops with business SMEs, including Front Office, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Technology.
  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements, functional requirements, business rules, and process specifications.
  • Translate complex business needs into clear process designs and actionable requirements for Technology and implementation teams.
  • Conduct gap analysis and impact assessments between current-state and future-state processes.
  • Identify opportunities for workflow optimization, automation, straight-through processing, and control enhancement.
  • Develop process maps, workflow diagrams, requirements documentation, operating procedures, and other supporting business analysis artifacts.
  • Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Operations stakeholders to ensure redesigned processes align with regulatory requirements and internal control frameworks.
  • Challenge existing processes and recommend solutions that improve efficiency, scalability, client experience, revenue enablement, and operational risk management.
  • Support the assessment and prioritization of process improvement opportunities based on business value, complexity, risk, and implementation considerations.
  • Work closely with Technology teams to ensure proposed process changes are accurately translated into system and workflow requirements.
  • Support implementation and transition activities, including process documentation, stakeholder communications, training materials, and business readiness.
  • Track and communicate process improvement findings, recommendations, dependencies, and implementation considerations to senior stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in business process engineering, business analysis, process re-engineering, management consulting, or a related discipline within Capital Markets or financial services.
  • Strong understanding of front-to-back Capital Markets processes and the trade lifecycle, including Front Office, Middle Office, and Back Office activities.
  • Hands-on experience conducting process analysis, process mapping, requirements gathering, gap analysis, and future-state design.
  • Strong understanding of KYC and AML processes, including client onboarding and regulatory controls within a banking environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working with senior business stakeholders and SMEs to understand complex processes and drive meaningful improvements.
  • Ability to translate complex business problems into clear process designs, business requirements, and actionable recommendations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and challenge existing processes.
  • Experience facilitating workshops and working sessions involving multiple business and technology stakeholder groups.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex processes and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent process analysis and transformation initiatives.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a senior Business Process Engineer / Business Analyst with strong Capital Markets experience who can move comfortably between detailed process analysis and senior stakeholder discussions.

They should be comfortable getting into the “how” of a process — understanding how work is performed today, why it is performed that way, where inefficiencies or risks exist, and how the process could be redesigned to deliver a better business outcome.

This is not a traditional Project or Program Manager role. While the successful candidate will need to manage their own workstreams and coordinate across multiple stakeholder groups, the primary focus is on process discovery, analysis, re-engineering, requirements, and future-state design.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$80.00 and CA$100.00

Our voluntary benefits offering includes medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits.
