Job Summary
Our client is undertaking a multi-year infrastructure modernization and data centre transformation program, including migration to cloud and hybrid platforms. We are seeking a Senior Business & Technical Analyst (BTA) to bridge business priorities, regulatory requirements, and technical delivery, with strong infrastructure expertise to drive safe, compliant, and business-aligned migration of critical banking applications
This role will play a critical part in ensuring secure, compliant, and customer-impact-aware migration of applications and platforms, while minimizing disruption to banking operations and retail financial services.
It is not a traditional BSA role—it requires deep understanding of infrastructure environments, cloud platforms, and application dependencies, combined with the ability to translate technical decisions into business, risk, and customer impact outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis
- Lead requirements gathering across retail banking operations (credit cards, lending platforms), digital banking and customer channels, and risk, compliance, audit functions
- Document current-state vs. future-state processes, and business and regulatory requirements
- Perform impact analysis on customer-facing systems (e.g., downtime, transaction processing)
Data Centre Migration & Modernization
- Support application portfolio assessment and rationalization
- Identify critical banking applications and classify Tier 1 (customer-facing, real-time), Tier 2/3 (internal, batch, reporting)
- Develop and support migration strategies (rehost, re-platform, refactor, retire), and migration wave planning aligned to business cycles (e.g., peak retail seasons, billing cycles)
- Assist in defining cutover strategies with minimal impact to customers and merchants
Technical Analysis & Cloud Alignment
- Analyze and interpret legacy banking systems and core platforms, infrastructure environments (VMware, storage, networks), and emerging cloud platforms (primarily Azure)
- Work with engineering teams to validate architecture designs, integration requirements, data flows and dependencies
- Translate technical concepts into business implications such as customer experience, operational risk, cost and performance trade-offs
Risk, Compliance & Governance
- Ensure alignment with: OSFI guidelines, data residency and privacy regulations (PIPEDA), PCI standards, internal risk and audit policies
- Conduct risk assessments for migration activities, business continuity and disaster recovery validation
- Maintain RAID logs and support governance forums
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Act as liaison across banking product owners, technology & infrastructure teams, cybersecurity and risk teams, external vendors and cloud providers
- Facilitate decision-making sessions balancing speed of modernization, risk management, customer impact
Program Delivery & Execution
- Support end-to-end program delivery across multiple workstreams, including Infrastructure, Applications, Security and compliance
- Track migration milestones, dependencies, and blockers
- Produce executive-level reporting with clear articulation of risks and impacts
Data, Reporting & Documentation
- Analyze application inventory, infrastructure utilization, and cost comparisons (on-prem vs. cloud / hybrid)
- Develop migration runbooks, process flows, and architecture diagrams
- Build dashboards to track migration progress, risk posture, cost and efficiency gains
Required Qualifications
- 7–10+ years in Business Analysis / Technical Analysis roles, with experience supporting data centre migration or cloud transformation programs
- Proven experience in financial services or banking environments, with experience supporting audit, compliance, or risk teams
- Solid understanding of data centre infrastructure (compute, storage, networking), virtualization (VMware preferred), cloud platforms (Azure)
- Familiarity with migration tooling (Azure Migrate, AWS Migration Hub), ITSM platforms (ServiceNow)
- Strong understanding of high-availability systems (24/7 banking environments), data sensitivity, and regulatory constraints
- Experience with tools: Jira / Azure DevOps, Confluence / SharePoint, Visio / Lucidchart, Excel (advanced), Power BI
- Exceptional communication with both technical and business stakeholders
- Ability to operate in highly regulated, risk-sensitive environments
- Strong problem-solving and decision-support capabilities
- Comfortable working in ambiguity and large transformation programs
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with core banking or card systems modernization
- Exposure to cloud security and identity frameworks
- Knowledge of enterprise architecture (TOGAF) a standardized way to design and manage how systems, applications, and infrastructure fit together across the organization
- Certifications: CBAP / PMI-PBA, Azure / AWS certifications, ITIL Foundation
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$50.00 and CA$65.00
