Job Title: Senior Project Controller Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid)

Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Project Controller to support capital projects across all phases—from initiation through closeout. This role focuses on cost management, forecasting, earned value, and project controls governance. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, with full visibility into financial and performance metrics.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead project controls planning, including cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and progress measurement.

Map estimates to control WBS and set up budgets in SAP; ensure accurate alignment with scheduling and contractor reporting.

Work closely with estimators and schedulers to support baseline development and milestone tracking.

Monitor and report on committed and incurred costs, providing variance analysis and identifying trends.

Review contractor cost data and progress metrics to update Estimate at Completion (EAC) and cost-to-complete forecasts.

Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to assess performance, rules of credit, and productivity measures.

Lead cost reviews, support project assurance processes, and prepare monthly performance reports.

Analyze discrepancies between RFP estimates and contract awards; provide insights on escalation, contingency, and unknowns.

Interface with project management, procurement, engineering, and construction for integrated forecasting and trend analysis.

Support system and financial closeout activities; prepare and present updates to senior leadership.

Mentor junior and intermediate project control team members.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, or related field.

Minimum 8+ years of experience in project controls or cost engineering, preferably on capital projects in energy or infrastructure.

Advanced Excel skills and strong working knowledge of SAP (cost management and project accounting).

In-depth understanding of EVM, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Field experience or prior work on high-risk, multi-discipline capital projects considered an asset.

Able to thrive in dynamic environments with limited predefined processes.
The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is between $55.00 and $60.00
