Location: Toronto, ON (Onsite)

CANDIDATE PROFILE DETAILS:
Degree/Level of Education: High school diploma accepted, but university degree preferred, in a finance related discipline
Certifications Required:
Years of Overall Experience: 5-7 years
How will performance be measured: based on job function, ability to meet SLAs
Preferred/Ideal Candidate Background: Ideal candidate would be a self-motivated, detailed oriented and organized individual who can work independently with minimum supervision but is also a strong team player. Looking for someone capable of prioritizing competing tasks through tight deadlines

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:

  • Typical Day-to-Day Responsibilities: daily tasks they need to complete
  • How much time is being spent in meetings: very little
  • Who are they interacting with (internal/external) – none just the team they are in
  • Will the contractor have access to any customer data? YES

MUST-HAVE Hard Skills:

  • 5 years of relevant experience in processing or accounting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

NICE-TO-HAVE

  • Previous experience with corporate actions (strong asset)
  • Previous Reconciliation experience (dividend systems)
  • Familiarity with credit and debit processes
  • Previous banking or FI experience
  • CSC

SUMMARY OF DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Monitor and review all corporate action notifications and circulars on a daily basis from vendors such as DTC, CDS, TSE, Bloomberg, etc. Manual identification of systems that have share positions. Search for second source information to validate. Determine location of main depository and follow up if corporate action event has not been received to finalize timelines for submission.
  • Identify corporate action events with complex tax treatment and forward to tax department for tax analysis prior to receipt of payment.
  • Escalate problem issues to senior.
  • Update Database/logbooks as required.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding effective notifications
  • Create corporate action files and update on-line logbooks
  • Ensure Reconciliation system items consistently carry current statuses.
  • Perform thorough & critical analysis of circulars/notification within tight deadlines.
  • Determine restrictions and eligibility of event for Canadian resident shareholders.
  • Determine if any documentation is required and submission timelines to the Agent.
  • For corporate action event review for French preference holders and request translation.
  • Identify potential risk of foreign currency exchange on upcoming corporate action events.
  • Analyze information received and break down into condensed form for client's notification.
  • Co-ordinate mailing with Symcor, send email burst to IA,s and set up for web broker upload.
  • Identify important information and conditions to be included to assist the client and reduce risk to the firm.
  • Communicate effectively with transfer agents and/or companies to obtain effective confirmed information and other corporate action offering material as required
  • Completes required internal courses and cross-training requirements.
  • Complete sundry duties and/or assigned daily tasks within agreed upon targets.

Incumbent may also be asked to:

  • Complete daily Income Dividend and Interest payment on the US Custody book of record
  • Perform reconciliation of upcoming Income payments on a daily basis.
  • Support payment of Mutual Fund dividends when required

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$20.00 and CA$22.00
