Job Title: Shallow Utilities Engineer

Location: Calgary, AB (Onsite)
    
Estimated Duration: 3+ Years

Our Client is looking for Shallow Utilities Engineer for their Calgary, AB location.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Prepare and review shallow utility layouts and designs in accordance with local utility standards and municipal requirements.
  • Coordinate with utility companies (e.g., ATCO, ENMAX, TELUS, Shaw) for approvals, permits, and design inputs.
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates, tender documents, and construction packages.
  • Review utility plans to ensure compatibility with overall site grading, roadworks, and deep utilities.
  • Perform site visits and inspections during construction to verify installation compliance.
  • Support project managers in managing deliverables, timelines, and communication with stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including as-builts, redlines, and utility correspondence.
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary design teams and provide technical input during project meetings.

 
Qualifications:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in shallow utility coordination/design, preferably within land development or infrastructure consulting.
  • Eligibility for registration or registered as an E.I.T. or P.Eng. with APEGA (or relevant provincial body).
  • Working knowledge of applicable standards, guidelines, and utility provider processes.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

 
Assets (Nice to Have):
 

  • Experience with utility permitting platforms or digital submission tools.
  • Familiarity with deep utility and grading coordination.
  • Experience working in a consulting or municipal environment.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$40.00 and CA$45.00
