Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Role Profile
Senior Business Systems Analyst will play a role in supporting the compliance with the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI)’s Life Insurance Capital Adequacy Test (LICAT) framework. This includes ensuring alignment with updated capital adequacy requirements, particularly those related to segregated fund guarantee (SFG) risks. The BSA will act as a liaison between business stakeholders, actuarial teams, and IT to deliver regulatory reporting solutions and ensure data integrity and process efficiency.
Role Expectations: 50% LICAT allocation
Translate LICAT reporting requirements into functional specifications.
Collaborate with actuarial, finance, and risk teams to interpret LICAT guidelines and ensure alignment in reporting.
Support the design of BW queries and dashboards for capital reporting.
Coordinate testing and UAT for LICAT related enhancements in SAP BW.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Nice to have:
Strong understanding of LICAT framework (Available Capital and Required Capital)
Proficient in data analysis and data model design.
- Provide technical and business support for corporate application users through strong understanding of application concepts and procedures.
- Respond to issues and queries from stakeholders, provide short-term resolutions and work with relevant technology partners for long term remediation in a timely manner.
- Work alongside sponsors, project managers, and architects to create and execute project plans.
- Translate conceptual user requirements into software requirements.
- Manage the design, development, and implementation of software requirements.
- Produce functional and technical designs for developers and/or end users.
- Ensures configurations meet business requirements and enterprise-level policy guidance (e.g., architecture, security, risk) and ensures the translation of those processes, needs and requirements into related artifacts and documentation
- Participate in application releases, from development, testing and deployment into production.
- Oversee and mentor junior resources on the team.
- Learn and be exposed to suite of corporate SAP technologies.
Skills considered an asset:
- Experience with SAP S/4 HANA
- Experience in SAP Finance and Controlling (FI/CO)
- Experience in Power BI
- Basic understanding of IFRS17 concepts
- Understanding of the Bank Analyzer / Insurance Analyzer / Financial Products Subledger (FPSL)
- Understanding of Source Data Layer (SDL) and Results Data Layer (RDL) and related concepts
- Experience with UML modeling techniques and tools would be an asset.
- Experience with designing application integration services (REST/JSON, SOAP/XML)
Qualifications:
- 8+ years experience
- University or College education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, Commerce, Business Administration or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience translating business needs into clear designs and produce high-quality builds.
- Experience performing unit and functional testing of designs.
- Experience articulating functionality of systems to business and IT teams at various levels.
- Strong ability to produce detailed documentation.
- Strong analytical and excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Good understanding in financial accounting and reporting practices
- At least 2 years experience in relational data modeling and design with formal knowledge of normalization.
- Good understanding of source system data integration requirements and design and configure data models and inbound integrations.
- Participation in at least one end-to-end project (analysis, design, config/development build, test, deployment including training and data conversion).
- Hands-on technical ability to write SQL queries to extract and manipulate data.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to maintain and enhance collaboration across business and technology teams
- Extensive experience in:
- Large project scoping, estimating, and work management
- Complex analysis and troubleshooting
- Developing effective working relationships with the business, consultants, and IS
- Leads the troubleshooting & resolution of complex problems to determine root cause and possible solutions, requiring the identification and analysis of alternative courses of action, involving the development of new approaches, tactics and initiatives
- Ability to research and propose resolutions on complex technical issues.
The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$80.00 and CA$100.00
