Job Title: Telecom Commissioning Engineer — Rail Transit Systems
Location: Greater Toronto Area, Ontario — 100% onsite, 5 days/week
Engagement: 12-month contract with potential to extend or convert to permanent.
Program: Major urban light rail transit systems delivery program

About the Opportunity
A rail systems integrator delivering a large-scale light rail program in the Greater Toronto Area is seeking a Telecom Commissioning Engineer to support telecommunications systems commissioning. The role drives site testing, system integration, troubleshooting, and final acceptance in line with project requirements and schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and coordinate pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities through to project completion.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed commissioning schedule and plan covering pre-commissioning and start-up phases through handover.
  • Prepare and update a comprehensive commissioning manual.
  • Establish reporting structure and accountabilities for the commissioning team.
  • Coordinate the commissioning/start-up schedule and associated work with third-party providers.
  • Develop pre-commissioning test procedures and documentation; identify and correct deficiencies.
  • Produce compliance and progress reports meeting client and legislative requirements.
  • Liaise with government agencies as required to obtain approvals prior to start-up.
  • Prepare client acceptance forms and secure sign-off.
  • Develop quality, environmental, and safety commissioning plans.
  • Work independently with limited supervision on difficult and sometimes complex problems.
  • Coach and review the work of junior professionals.

Experience / Educational Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of telecom engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications systems in the railway industry.
  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering, or Information Technology. Ontario P.Eng highly desirable.
  • 1–2 years of railway systems engineering expertise.
  • Clear background check required.

The pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position is between CA$60.00 and CA$70.00
